Lake Isabella is a large quiet and peaceful lake to take the kids for a few hours of picnicing and fishing. And, when the kids are ready to make a little noise, there is lots of land to run and a cute playground where you’ll find swings and monkey bars.

Typical Day: With a packed lunch, it is so much fun to plan a mini-field trip to Lake Isabella. It’s not far to get to, but when you’re unloading the fishing poles and bait, it feels like your miles away from it all. Some time the fish are biting and sometimes they are not. Of course, the kids wish they could catch a fish every other minute, but the patient waiting is worth every excited scream when they pull that fish up on the shore. We always “catch & release” which makes it even more fun that they get to hold each fish before letting it go back to the water.

The boat house is conveniently located right on the Lake. There are clean bathrooms for washing hands which helps in transitioning to lunch. Sometimes we pick a spot right on the grass to picnic and other times we’ll find a picnic table. And after lunch, we walk over to the playground near by. There is lots of room to run, swing, climb, and exhaust the kids for the day.

Lake Isabella always feels like a day that will be remembered when the kids get older and we say, “Remember our fishing trips to Lake Isabella?”

Cincy Kids: APPROVE!
