The YMCA is truly a place where families can focus on health and wellness while having fun in an affordable and safe environment. I feel so lucky to live close to the Blue Ash YMCA, and every single one of our family members has enjoyed our family membership. From swim lessons to kids classes like Boot Camp gymnastics, mini-maestros music class, Basketball camp, Fall & Spring T-ball and Soccer, as well as the adult classes including Yoga and Zumba, there is something for everyone.

I have to admit that we visit the YMCA at least once a week, if not more often than that. They offer FREE Drop-in Child Watch for kids ages 0-6 years of age, as long as you stay on the YMCA premises, and I’ve heard that they also offer a “Cool Kids Club” for ages 6-12 which includes Free supervised activities. Since I have preschoolers, I take my kids to the Child Watch room (which I call “Art Class” to them) and in one very large room they enjoy all kinds of toys, puzzles, books, train tables, race tracks, and coloring pages. There are always lots of YMCA employees in this room carefully watching over the children and even reading stories or helping with projects throughout the day.

I mention the child watch first thing, because on a typical summer day (when school is out), I will first take the kids to a fun class like Boot Camp gymnastics or Tumbling and then bring them to “Art Class” or child watch. Then I’ll take a revitalizing Yoga class (I just love all of the instructors). After my class, when I pick them up, they are always excited to show me their new coloring page and talk about the new friends they made or the old friends that they saw. With bouncing energy, we head into the very clean and spacious locker rooms where we’ll change into our swim suits and head to the outdoor or indoor pool. There are picnic tables outside by the pool or in front of the Y near the playground or you a small indoor cafeteria for rainy days.

We have enjoyed so many activities at the YMCA that just one typical day can’t describe all that it has to offer. My kids have played Spring and Fall T-ball and Soccer. There are an abundance of happy kids on the fields and happy parents cheering on their future athlete’s in a relaxing environment introducing little ones to sports. We also took group and private swim lessons.

On a rainy day, we’ve enjoyed the basketball courts or indoor pool (but be sure to check when “open recreation” is on the schedule). And they have events scheduled FREE to the public year round. We have seen multiple book fairs in the lobby, a magic show, attended FREE Friday classes to introduce parents to the many different classes available for kids, celebrated kids health with bounce houses, face painting and Free new member registration days.

Whether you are a member or not, there is plenty of fun going on at the YMCA.
